Industrial Designer, Los Angeles

Currently, HCT is in search of creative, energetic and talented Industrial Designer to join our Santa Monica team. The Industrial Designer develops new packaging solutions and improvements by performing the duties listed below. This position is responsible for taking products from concept through production under aggressive timelines. Must possess some knowledge of molding, plastics, soft goods (not required but a plus) and printing basics and have a strong focus on the design, aesthetic elements and manufacturability of products.

Essential Functions:

  • Evaluates current and proposed packaging solutions based on factors such as appealing appearance, design-function relationships, serviceability, materials and methods engineering, application, budget, production costs and specifications.
  • Conceptualizes, illustrates and communicates new product concepts through quick sketching, mockups, group brainstorm, and 3D modeling.
  • Must be able to assess product obstacles and use design skills/experience to successfully complete the project.
  • Responsible for working closely with the Product Development, Engineering and Operations departments to drive brand consistency across all products and to establish key design features.
  • Participates in creation of concept research product definition: customer needs, idea generation, feasibility, specifications, concept visions and models in a team environment.
  • Procures materials needed to construct prototypes and is involved in the design engineering of new models.
  • Analyzes test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
  • Performs technical analysis of competitive products and analyzes competitive trends/ activities by visiting retail stores.
  • Act as advisory specialists to management on matters regarding developing new products and product improvements.
  • Closely monitor and analyze competitive trends and activities by visiting retail stores.
  • Regularly exercises discretion and independent judgment on the development of new products and product improvements.
  • Enjoys working in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment.
  • Other duties as required.

  Requirements:

  • Degree in Industrial Design and 0-5 years of professional experience
  • Excellent visual communication and form development skills demonstrated in your sketching
  • Impressive graphic design samples
  • Extensive 3D CAD modeling & rendering experience (Solidworks required)
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively on a fast-paced interdisciplinary team.

Quality Control Associate, Los Angeles

Assists in HCT’s Quality Control process by using current Good Manufacturing Practice (cGMP) regulations 21 CFR Part 211 and ISO-22716.  Manage the quality control of goods produced. Interface with internal departments, suppliers, vendors, contract laboratories and consultants to ensure that quality specifications are established and met.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Complete projects and requests in a quick, timely and efficient manner.
  • Respond to customer and project manager inquiries, issues, requests as needed
  • Assist in approval process for batches and finished goods release for cosmetics and OTC Drug products based on required criteria
  • Evaluate product submissions, and review for approval to be released by Manager
  • Submit and monitor samples for micro testing and results
  • Maintain, organize and store samples as needed
  • Responsible to make submissions to contract labs and obtain test reports
  • Work with Project Managers to issue deviations
  • Review Customer SOP’s with Project Managers to ensure implementation
  • Create Certificates of Analysis
  • Issue Stability and Compatibility Forms and obtain interval report and review, obtain final samples for examination and issue summary report
  • Perform internal product stability studies
  • Monitor test equipment and maintain in good operating condition
  • Request Purchase Orders and follow payment as necessary
  • Ensure invoices are reviewed and paid in a timely manner
  • Perform incoming Q.C. inspections as needed and report results obtained
  • Other duties as requested

Requirements:

Requirements:

  • A minimum of two years of experience specifically as a (non-retail) Account Executive for a turnkey HBA contract manufacturer is preferred.
  • A passion for the beauty industry with  sales, operations, or project management experience
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver compelling sales presentations/promotions
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of personnel management and development
  • High energy, detail focused, action oriented contributor

The successful candidate will have full responsibility for managing the development and growth of the East Coast cosmetic brush portfolio, full accountability for achievement of turnover targets and increase distribution of cosmetic brush products.   • Travel minimum 30% of time
